Outdoor Fun and Adventures 

Ten fishing lakes are situated within 20 miles of Ripley. Elk Fork Lake, Frozen Camp Lake, O'Brien Lake, and Wiblin Fork Lake are part of the Mill Creek Watershed System. Rollins Lake is located near the community of Evans. Woodrum Lake is in southern Jackson County, near Kentuck. Four fishing lakes are located within Cedar Lakes Conference Center. Anglers may also like Parchment Valley's Campground. 
 

Ripley offers kayaking and canoeing the 22-mile Mill Creek Water Trail and is growing in popularity among locals and visitors. The route extends from the Ohio River in Millwood, beyond the Jackson County Fairgrounds at Cottageville, Rollins Lake at Evans and comes to an end at Cedar Lakes Conference Center, south of Ripley. The areas surrounding Ripley and throughout Jackson County features public hunting areas at the Woodrum Lake Wildlife Management Area near Kenna and the Frozen Camp Wildlife Management Area, east of Ripley. The hunting area at Woodrum includes more than 1,800 acres and Frozen Camp WMA is a 2,587 acre Wildlife Management Area in Jackson County near Ripley, WV. It also features a 200-yard rifle range. Both areas are abundant with deer, grouse, rabbit, squirrel, turkey, and waterfowl. Frozen Camp was recently cited as one of the top spots in WV for turkey hunting by West Virginia Outsider.

You'll find a number of trails in and around the City of Ripley. Whether you're out hiking, biking, walking, or simply reconnect with nature, there's a trail for that. Multiple hiking and biking trails can be found across the county. Some of the more challenging courses are situated at Parchment Valley Conference Center, including a peaceful walk to the Grapevine Chapel. Cedar Lakes Conference Center has trails around the tranquil upper lakes.
