Cavalcade of CustomsJackson County's detachment of the Marine Corps League is sponsoring this car show on the Municipal Parking Lot in downtown Ripley.
City Park Celebration–
City Park CelebrationRipley celebrates the opening of the swimming season in a big way. The City has a new splash pad, new tennis courts, a new basketball court and other amenities.
The 10-2 event features inflatables, remote control car demos, free swimming and a DJ.

WV Kayak AnglersWest Virginia Kayak Anglers return to conduct a fishing tournament fishing lakes in the Ripley area. Membership is required. Fairplain Yacht Club is the headquarters for the tournament. Fishing hours are from 6:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.
Cops & Bobbers–
Cops & BobbersHere's a fishing event for kids 2-14 accompanied by an adult. The concept is to get hooked on fishing, not drugs.
The event is 9-11 a.m. at Cedar Lakes Conference Center. Registration begins at 8 a.m.
WV Chess Action Championships–
WV Chess Action ChampionshipsWest Virginia's Chess Association is the sponsor of an event in the Ripley Senior Center, 121 S. Court Street. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the competition is from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Entry fee is $25.

Wrestling ClinicOhio State's Micah Jordan, an NCAA runner-up, is having a clinic at Gymfinity, 231 Straight Street. Hours are from 10 a.m. until noon and from 1-3 p.m. The fee is $50.

'Swift Justice' Book SigningA new book is available about an historic Jackson County event.
"Swift Justice" by Merrilee Matheny details the 1897 events of John F. Morgan's triple murder. He was captured, went on trial, escaped from jail, re-captured, and hanged in about a month.
A book signing is set in the Jackson County Pulic Library in Ripley from 10 a.m. until noon on Saturday, June 15.
